Meet Gabe & Katie. A husband and wife team that have a love of all things handmade.

Gabe’s passion for creating has always been a part of him. Growing up on a farm and then becoming a farmer himself lends itself to hand skills and hard work from an early age. As a first job, he helped build houses where he learned many basic skills and foundational knowledge of handwork. Gabe can remember being introduced to blacksmithing at an old-time days event as a young boy, and his interests continued to grow from there.

A few years after getting married, Gabe & Katie started a grass-based livestock business on the family farm. The beautiful farm had a decent amount of forest that needed some cleaning and clearing for the animals. As Gabe worked he realized how much he enjoyed being in the forest. He uncovered a decent amount of quality timber. He wondered how he could get this lumber milled instead of just using it for firewood.

Fast forward to 2015 and we purchased our sawmill. We knew how beneficial it would be to have our own lumber for use around the farm and in our own home. Gabe thoroughly enjoyed the milling process and he was able to spend a little time ‘playing’ in the wood shop. Some of our family had requests for a table, some small home items like cutting boards, a gift for a new baby, etc. Once Gabe started crafting those pieces the word got out!

No one was expecting the craftsman quality that emerge from his work from the very beginning. This wasn’t just a table your brother threw together one weekend. It was obvious that Gabe had a gift for woodworking and a love of forestry. These beautiful piece would come together after a few hours in the shop with very little planning. It’s an amazing organic process to watch! After some pressure from our friends and family we decided to share Gabe’s work with others through Crafted Element.

We strive for craftsman quality work. We build things to last. We love working together as a family to create items that become the centerpieces in your homes. Thank you for supporting our small business!
